Kentucky Horse Farms and Horse Events Abound!

Not only is Kentucky world-famous for its amazing Bluegrass and Kentucky Horse Farms, but it’s reputation continues to rise in the world of Equestrian events.  The once world-famous Madison Square Garden National Horse Show, which for years captured the attention of horse-lovers in the 1950′s, is now moving this year’s event to the KY Horse Park on the north side of Lexington.

“The National”, as last Sunday’s Lexington Herald-Leader pointed out, was a huge tradition for many years. It brought breath-taking moments to light, like U.S. Equestrian Team Member Bill Steinkraus’  world record-breaking 7′ 3″ jump.

But the horse culture of the 1950′s subsided with the advent of many other high profile sports events like auto racing and other internationally broadcast competitions.

With last year’s All Tech sponsored World Equestrian Games being the first ever to leave Europe, the U.S. and Lexington KY are definitely making an impression and a comeback for the horse-loving world.

Not only is the National Horse Competition coming to the KY Horse Park and Lexington, KY, but the park is also working to raise another $1+ million by June 1st of next year to revobater the existing dressage complex at the Kentucky Horse Park. According to the Herald-Leader, if successfully built, this will give the park a dressage venue which will bring even greater attention to the worldwide dressage arena.

Let’s face it, Horse events are only going to keep growing here in the Lexington KY area. The Thoroughbred industry and its magnificent Kentucky Horse Farms may dominate the scene for many, but Kentucky is quickly gaining visibility in a number of other arenas as well.
