Downtown Lexington KY – Change is in the Air!

Heraclitus once said, “The only thing constant is change.” That may just about sum up the flurry of what’s going on in and around downtown Lexington KY. A short while ago, I blogged here about the addition of 3D interactive maps in downtown Lexington, as well as the new downtown Lexington ice skating rink in Triangle Park. The news has also been full of updates on the discussions regarding the renovation of Rupp Arena. If you’re planning on moving to Lexington, KY, you’ll want to know… so what’s the latest innovation that’s up for grabs in our wonderful city?

The latest plan up for discussion is allowing local Food Truck concessions to be parked in downtown Lexington on a rotating basis. ilthough reminiscent of the thriving streets of New York City, with the smells and sounds of those wonderful wafting hot pretzels, etc. it’s not quite as easy as it sounds…

Some of the considerations that are being weighed include, of course, meeting the current Health Code guidelines, as well as other strict licensing checks of the vendors involved. Then there is the how and where to fit them all into a rotating, fair schedule. And, of course, there will be an impact on the restaurants and small delis that are scattered around downtown when and if this occurs.

At the same time, you’ve got to hand it to little ol’ Lexington KY. We’ve got some innovative, progressive thinkers, and they are working hard to bring not only pizza with flavor , but pizzaz to the greater downtown Lexington KY area.  Shall we add this to the list of Top Ten Reasons to Live in Lexington KY ?   or perhaps to the More Top Ten Reasons to Live in Lexington KY ?
